  I can't believe I never shopped here when I lived in the neighborhood. I stopped in yesterday because I felt like a rice ball (not literally) - I mean I wanted some arancini. So I came in and picked out a couple meat & cheese filled balls. When the lady asked, "Is that all?" I said yes.

  Then a quick glance around and I saw some awesome foccaccia bread that seemed even better than the kind from Il Mulino di Valenzano which I love. And then I saw they have maybe 6 different kinds of Italian sausage. And then I saw they sell sandwiches too. And then I saw.... well you get the idea. I bought a few other things before leaving.

  For a little Italian shop on Belmont, they offer a lot and it's not overpriced as some of these boutique grocers like Morning fields. The mild garlic Italian sausage I bought cost only $2.79 a pound, which is about what I pay for the ordinary stuff at Shop-n-Save. They even have a freezer case with some packaged Italian ice I'll have to try on another visit. Maybe I'll come in and get me one of them yummy Italian sandwiches and eat it outside at one of their tables.

This place has that special feeling like its been in the area for a long time.  Service is above-average, and everything is very affordable.  Their sausage, which is their main draw, runs for about $2.79 lb.  Along with prepared frozen meals, they have a small grocery area with a working deli.  They also make delicious foot-long panzerottis which are a bargain at $2.29.  I'll definitely be going back.

First off, I have never been in the shop so I have no clue what else they carry or what the deal is INSIDE.  But let me say that  3/4 of the sausages I ate growing up, not to mention as an adult, have come from this place.  These are the sausages against which all other sausages are measured.  Because of these I have become a sausage snob; people show up at grillage events with prepackaged, mass produced fillers from Jewel and the like and I wrinkle my nose in disdain.  My relatives that have moved to the burbs have, or so they believe, found something just as good; I suppose if a suitable substitution is what you are looking for.  I have had friends who still live in the area offer to drive over sausages when they come to visit, because, well Andersonville is a bit of a hike.

Damn, after reading Mike O's review now I want an arancini. Guess I will just have to make the pilgrimage and head into the shop. If I do not come out at least know I died with a smile on my lips, and my belly full.

Hands down the best Italian sausage in Chicago. Try the XXX HOT Italian sausage if you like hot food. We always keep it in the freezer, for a quick gourmet pasta dinner.

This place has been and still is GREAT!  There Italian sausage is made in the back room. The Hot is too die for. 

Also, try a sandwich for lunch . Meatball, subs, beef, are all great!!

The best Italian sausage you can find in Chicago! My parents and grandparent have gone here, you can find allot of Italians in this place. Their sausage and pasta salad and chesse is the best! I had a party and grilled their sausage and i had complements all night about this sausage and gave directions all night. I promise you can not go wrong with anything you buy here.
